Mapify is a Berlin startup making waves as a travel-centric social network, already raising $1 million in seed funding and winning the attention of funds and angel investors all over the US and Europe.
Mapify was launched in November 2017. It was a finalist in TechCrunch Battlefield, and it has since gained support from MIT’s Sandbox Innovation Fund and from many other high-profile investors. The app is uniquely travel based, giving users a highly focused and informational platform to visualize, find, and plan travel. By adding posts called a “spot” individually or to a trip, you can share photos and details that are then pinned onto a map to produce a highly visual and interactive record.
Mapify’s feed is focused on locations, so searching for travel recommendations in countries, regions, and cities is easy. Furthermore, the app tailors personal recommendations based on individual interests, so you can get your travel fix whether you’re into the outdoors, history, culture, food, or nightlife. It’s the perfect travel companion to help you discover a new place.
As you browse through recommendations and find inspiration, you can add them to planned trips and organize them through the app. Everything stays centralized so that trip planning no longer needs to be scattered or fragmented. It even has partnerships with travel companies such as Airbnb to make booking even easier. The app is designed to bring together all the elements of inspiration, planning, and sharing so that the travel space becomes more unified.
Even though Mapify seeks to redefine the travel app experience by making it a streamlined travel platform, it is not yet a one-stop shop. However, the app is a joy to use, and it pairs perfectly with other travel apps to help you discover local gems and plan your travel adventures.
